With Your Partner, Is Honesty the Best Policy?

There is no dearth of ‘love experts’ and ‘love gurus’ saying that being honest with your partner about your past is overrated. If being honest with your partner about your past can lead to a problem in your relationship, then hide your past, they say.
It is well know fact that “as you sow, so shall you reap”. Being honest will only do good in long run though it may the accepted with resistance at first.
If your partner has trouble accepting your past, and if that is a reason for him/her to have a problem in being with you, then the relationship probably isn’t worth the effort in the first place. Being honest with your partner will only help build the trust in the relationship, a factor that is essential in any long term relationship.
If you intend to hide your past from your partner and hope that it stays that way, you should know that skeletons have a strange way of coming out of the closet. Being honest with your partner at the very onset will save you the trouble of having to hide your tracks later on.
Remember, strong relationships are built on trust; and just as you would expect your partner to be honest with you, your partner would expect you to be honest as well.
